Quality & Sustainability
Quality Policy
Our products and services shall always meet our own and the world's requirements for safe food handling, quality, and working conditions through competent staff, clear procedures, traceability, and control.
Assurance
We are, and should be at least, certified according to IP Food, which provides assurance to our customers about the good work we do in food safety, traceability, and labeling.
Secure Suppliers
Our suppliers shall be certified according to one of GFSI's (Global Food Safety Initiative) approved standards for food production; BRC, IFS Food, or certifications ISO 22000 or IP Food.
Ethical Trade
Through our Code of Conduct, communicated and signed by our suppliers, we emphasize the importance of the requirements we place on our suppliers and their subcontractors regarding human rights, working conditions, environment, and anti-corruption. Producers from high-risk countries shall also undergo continuous audits for BSCI and/or SMETA.
Environmental Policy
As a player in the food chain, we strive to be a sustainable supplier by staying updated on the environmental and sustainability goals that exist in the industry. Whether it's small daily efforts or large projects, it ultimately contributes to a sustainable society. Our current major focus areas, which are also in line with the food industry's sustainability manifesto, are as follows:
Reducing Food Waste
Through good planning, a structured and proactive approach, and through close collaboration between our customers and suppliers, our main driving force is to minimize and ultimately almost eliminate food waste within our responsibility by 2025.
Reducing Plastic Environmental Impact
We are working to ensure that all our plastic packaging is recyclable by 2025. By 2030, our plastic packaging should also be made from renewable or recycled materials.
Our certifications
IP Food
The IP Food primary certification is a standard for quality-assured food production throughout the entire chain, from primary production to processing.
The certificate serves as evidence of Piwa Food's excellence in food safety, traceability, and labeling.
Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)
Piwa Food is certified according to MSC's traceability standard.
This means there are systems in place to trace and ensure that MSC-labeled products are not mixed with other fish and seafood. Our work with MSC contributes to sustainable fishing practices and viable stocks.
EU Organic
Piwa Food holds certification as a wholesaler and retailer of EU organic food products.
This labeling indicates that the product is grown or produced according to the EU's regulations for organic production.
